On my android device, i tap accounts>email>account settings, tap my outlook.com account, tap email sync range, and i can select to sync one day, three days, one week, two weeks, one month, or all. I right clicked on the account, clicked on 'imap folders', clicked the query button and then clicked on the all mail folder and subscribe.

What you seem to be experiencing is that some of your incoming messages are skipping the inbox. Right click on the [gmail} and select “new folder” (see image below) step 5:
